Pan and Yi were a set of vessels for nobles of Zhou Dynasty to wash hands
and face . When the master needs to wash his hands or face , an elder
servant would held yi and pour water to his hands for washing and a young
servant would carry a pan to contaim the filthy water . After that , the
young servant would hand the master a towel for wiping hands and face
. From this , we know some aspects of the ritual system of that time .
